The noose closed tighter on Chechen refugees on April 1 with the closing of the Sputnik tent camp. That leaves only the nearby Satsita camp as the last one in Ingushetia still functioning–and the Russian authorities want to close that camp as well.

The Interfax news agency reported on April 1 that an official of the federal migration service had confirmed the camp’s closure and the dismantling of its last remaining tents. The official, Ivan Pomeshchenko, claimed that the camp’s last 137 residents had all returned to Chechnya. He also said that he expects the Satsita camp to be closed by early May.
