BANKERS TO LAUNCH INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION OF KIVELIDI MURDER.

Russian bankers and other businessmen affiliated with theBusiness Roundtable have decided to carry out their own investigationinto the recent murder of the Roundtable’s chairman, the prominentbanker Ivan Kivelidi. The Roundtable’s vice chairman, VladimirShcherbakov, told Radio Russia on August 9 and 10 that affiliatedgroups have donated one million dollars and have told their privatesecurity services to launch the investigation. According to Shcherbakov,the bankers do not want to substitute for state law enforcementbodies, but would like to find the organizers of the Kivelidimurder as well as the executioners. The bankers have also decidedto organize public vigils in Moscow and several Russian citiesnext week in protest against the ineffectiveness of law enforcementagencies.
