CHECHEN YOUTHS TO BE DRAFTED.

On September 3, Anatoly Khryachkov, the pro-Moscow military commissioner of Chechnya, reported to an expanded session of the Chechen government that it is planned to draft 500 Chechen youths to serve in a special railway troop battalion to be established to restore the railways in the region. The draftees are to undergo special training at the railway troops’ base in the city of Rostov-on-Don for six months. The Chechen leadership intends to provide financial aid to parents of the draftees (Military News Agency, September 4).
