Estonia’s Defense Ministry announced on June 11 that it suspects, following a recent investigation, at least eighteen officers of having forged their higher-education diplomas and other credentials. The ministry has ordered a follow-up investigation and a more general check of personal data of military officers. Those found to have presented false documents will be cashiered (BNS, June 11). In a parallel development, Latvian authorities have found that some diplomas of the Riga Aviation University (RAU) have been forged. The authorities have launched criminal proceedings, parliament has voted to revoke RAU’s accreditation and the government plans to reorganize air force training (BNS, June 11).
