Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 1

Following a meeting with a delegation of Bosnian Serb leaders on December 25, Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov promised to contribute building materials for the construction of a new Bosnian Serb capital. (Interfax, December 25) Luzhkov’s offer of aid appears designed both to sharpen his nationalist credentials and to strengthen Moscow’s influence in the Balkans.
