RUSSIAN HARVEST SEEN DOWN 25 PERCENT.

The Russian Agrarian Party’s congress in Moscow, announced that according to its calculations, this year’s Russian harvest will not exceed 60 million tons of grain, in contrast to the 81.3 million tons which were harvested in 1994. The party’s statement said Russia’s agricultural production has been fallen to the levels of the 1960s-1970s. The party added that it expects a further 10 to 12 percent drop in agricultural production in 1996, Itar-Tass reported September 4.
