Duma chairmanIvan Rybkin’s left-center electoral bloc held its constituentcongress in Moscow August 21, Moscow radio reported. But the blocfailed to attract some of those it was expected to attract, includingthe Agrarians and the country’s labor movement, whose leaderssaid that Rybkin was too pro-government. Rybkin himself expressed"bitter regret" that the country’s left-center forcesremained so divided. Rybkin’s group also failed to get an attractivename–it will be called simply "the electoral bloc of IvanRybkin." Rybkin himself tried to put the best face on thingsnoting that it includes more than 50 various movements and representsa group of people committed to "social justice, order, andlaw."
