TUSSLE OVER FIGHTERS BUILT IN GEORGIA, PAID FOR BY MOSCOW.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 56

A Russian military official yesterday charged that Georgia was stalling on returning 12 Sukhoi ground-attack jets built in Tbilisi in 1991 and 1992 on the basis of a Soviet order placed in the late 1980’s. The unnamed source speculated that the Georgians might want to use the Su-25Ts against Abkhazian separatists. There are reported to be 30 Su-25s at the Tbilisi factory, including the 12 belonging to Russia. (Itar-Tass, March 19)
