Sam Jones

Eurasia and Terrorism Associate

Sam Jones is an Eurasia and Terrorism Associate at The Jamestown Foundation. Prior to joining The Jamestown Foundation, he was a geoeconomics assistant at The Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD), where he worked on projects examining illicit financial flows linked to Russian influence and state capture in the Western Balkans, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. He also assisted CSD with research and written contributions for the European Commission’s 2025 Enlargement Package for the Eastern Neighborhood.

He graduated from Indiana University with degrees in International Studies and East Slavic Languages and Cultures, and participated in the Department of Defense Russian Language Flagship program in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where he attended al-Farabi Kazakh National University. He received an MA in Politics and Security from University College London and an MA in History from the University of Belgrade. He is proficient in Russian and conversational in Serbo-Croatian.
