INDIA TO GET RUSSIAN REACTORS…

Russia has reportedly given categorical assurances to India that it will follow through on a deal to supply New Delhi with nuclear reactors, despite U.S. opposition to the sale. An Indian newspaper on February 12 quoted Foreign Minister Inder Kumar Gujral as saying in Moscow that Russia would sell India two VVR-1000 reactors for $2.6 billion. Gujral said he had received the assurances from Russian prime minister Viktor Chernomyrdin and First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Ilyushin. (PTI news agency, February 12)
