The Ha’aretz newspaper claimed that Russian president Boris Yeltsin had acknowledged the deal during his talks last month in Moscow with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. (UPI, March 31) In February the U.S. warned Moscow against going through with the deal.
