KUCHMA, YELTSIN TO MEET ON BLACK SEA FLEET.
During a brief session atthe Minsk CIS summit, the presidents of Ukraine and the RussianFederation agreed to meet June 9 in Sochi to discuss the future of theBlack Sea fleet, Interfax reported May 26. Yeltsin has beenincreasingly critical of the Ukrainian position and argued at Minskthat Kiev was “failing” to abide by earlier agreements. His commentsfollowed a Kuchma letter to Moscow saying that Kiev was prepared toallow Moscow to base ships at two bays in Sevastopol, but would notgive the Russians the entire city as a base.
