* NICKEL AND DIME:

The Moscow prosecutor has filed or soon will file corruption charges against five associates of former First Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Chubais. Alfred Kokh, who as head of the State Property Committee oversaw many of the details of privatization, faces a charge of embezzlement, as does his deputy and another member of his staff. Similar charges are expected shortly against another ex-chairman of the State Property Committee and a former head of the Federal Bankruptcy Service who is now a member of the Duma. Kokh has left the country and may be in the United States. The charges carry a possible 5-10 year sentence.
