…SWITCH FROM LEBED TO ZYUGANOV IN MOLDOVA.

Zyuganov won a narrow majority of the votes of Russian citizens in Moldova. The Russian military vote was delivered to Yeltsin, but civilian Russian citizens voted overwhelmingly for Zyuganov, tipping the balance in his favor. Moldova was the sole ex-Soviet republic in which Aleksandr Lebed won (with a 45 percent plurality) the Russian vote in the first round of the election. Most of Lebed’s voters switched to Zyuganov in the runoff. (Basapress, Flux, July 3 and 4)
