Russian nationalist leaderVladimir Zhirinovsky said that a group of Russian politiciansare preparing a coup to disrupt the elections and establish a"pro-Western military dictatorship," Ostankino televisionreported August 25. Zhirinovsky said this effort was backed bythe US Central Intelligence Agency.
