RUSSIA WANTS LITHUANIA TO MODIFY ITS CONSTITUTION.

Yeltsinaide Sergei Filatov told visiting Lithuanian parliament speakerCeslovas Jursensas that Russia had solved "the problem ofcitizenship and human rights" far better than any of theBaltic countries and he complained that "the Lithuanian Constitutionso far makes it impossible" to establish dual citizenshipfor ethnic Russians there, Interfax reported July 25. Filatovadded that today "we feel the pain" of Russians livingabroad "more and more often." Jursensas said that Russia’sposition on this and other issues was "extremely important"for Lithuania, and he invited Russian President Boris Yeltsinto visit Lithuania before the 1996 elections.
