Aybaniz Ismayilova

Aybaniz Ismayilova is an independent analyst specializing in South Caucasus geopolitics, Eurasian connectivity, and infrastructure diplomacy, with a focus on Azerbaijan's strategic positioning in the evolving regional order. Her research examines the intersection of transport infrastructure, energy geopolitics, and diplomatic communications across the Middle Corridor, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia.

Ismayilova brings over 25 years of professional experience spanning international development, strategic communications, and institutional policy across the public, private, and international sectors. She previously served as Head of the Communications Department at Azerbaijan Railways (ADY), where she led strategic communications during Azerbaijan's COP29 preparations and the modernization of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway corridor. Earlier in her career, she worked with the United Nations and international donor organizations on sustainability and social development programs. She currently teaches Global Politics in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

She holds a Master's degree in International Development from the University of Manchester as a British Chevening Scholar (2005) and a strategic sustainability credential from Stanford University (2024). Her analysis has appeared in Al Jazeera, Modern Diplomacy, and the Institute for Development and Diplomacy (IDD).
