Kiyya Baloch

Kiyya Baloch is a freelance journalist and researcher. He has previously covered religious extremism, Baloch militancy, security, politics, and human rights in Pakistan for world-leading media outlets, including The Guardian, The Economist, Radio Free Europe, Al Jazeera online, The Diplomat Magazine and others. He also covered the 2013 general election in Pakistan and breaking news stories such as Panama case hearings, Pakistan’s efforts to defuse Saudi–Iran tensions, and suicide bombings in Pakistan. Recently, he worked as a researcher at the University of Agder in Norway, focusing on security issues facing local journalists working along Pakistan’s border to Afghanistan and Iran. He is currently researching and studying narcoterrorism, violent extremist organizations, and their financing in a wide range of areas in the Middle East and North Africa, primarily focusing on twelve Arab nations.
