RUSSIA’S CHILD VICTIMS.

Over 400 vagrant children were rounded up last week in a routine patrol by police in President Boris Yeltsin’s home town, Yekaterinburg. The children were living in cellars, derelict buildings and around the railway station. Those who had run away from home were returned to their families, but the majority proved to be orphans. Many were found to be suffering from sores, sexually-transmitted diseases, and TB. Children are among those hardest hit by Russia’s continuing social and economic upheaval.
