BEREZOVSKY SUES FORBES.

Boris Berezovsky, the businessman who is also deputy secretary of Russia’s Security Council, has issued writs for libel in London’s High Court against Forbes magazine. Berezovsky alleges that Forbes libeled him in an article in its December issue that claimed he had links to organized crime and was involved in the murder of Vlad Listyev, one of Russia’s best-loved TV personalities. (Itar-Tass, February 12) Berezovsky has retained leading libel lawyer George Carman and the prominent British libel law firm Peter Carter-Ruck and Partners. (Financial Times, February 13)
