Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 10
Russia’s ambassador to Tokyo apologized yesterday to Japanese foreign minister Yukihiko Ikeda for the oil spill from a wrecked Russian tanker that has fouled miles of Japan’s coastline. Meanwhile, the owner of the wrecked tanker has reportedly warned crew members not to talk about the accident because a large insurance settlement is at stake. (Kyodo, January 14)
