MOSCOW BOMB THREAT BY LENIN SUPPORTERS.

Police yesterday defused a number of explosive devices planted inside the huge, nearly completed statue of Peter the Great on the banks of the Moscow River. A group calling itself the Revolutionary Military Council claimed responsibility for the bombs, saying it planted the devices in protest against proposals to remove Lenin’s body from its Red Square mausoleum, but decided not to detonate the bombs because of the presence of innocent bystanders. In April, the "Military Council of the Red Army of Workers and Peasants" blew up Moscow’s only monument to Russia’s last Czar, Nicholas II, in a similar protest against plans to close the Lenin mausoleum.
