FBI SPY RECEIVES LONG JAIL SENTENCE.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 124

Earl Pitts, a veteran FBI agent arrested in December on charges of spying for Moscow, has been sentenced to 27 years in prison. The sentence was an even harsher one than had been sought by federal prosecutors, and was attributed to the enormity of Pitts’s crime. Pitts was charged with having accepted some $224,000 from Moscow between 1987 and 1994 in exchange for information that betrayed some of the FBI’s most sensitive operations. (Reuter, June 24)
