YELTSIN HOSPITALIZED.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 230

President Boris Yeltsin was reportedly admitted to the hospital this morning, said to be suffering from a cold. (BBC, December 10) The news seems likely to derail tomorrow’s planned roundtable between the president and representatives of political parties and trade unions (see below). Coming on top of reports of Yeltsin’s unorthodox behavior during his recent visit to Sweden, the news will also spark concern that the president may be suffering from something more serious than a mere cold. Yeltsin has a history of serious illnesses. (More to follow in a forthcoming Monitor issue.)
