Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 200
Russia’s Communist Party marked the 80th anniversary of the October Revolution in St. Petersburg on October 25 according to the old-style calendar observed by Russia in 1917. Party leader Gennady Zyuganov declared that Russia is again "on the verge of a revolutionary situation." The American philosopher Irving Kristol has called the 20th century the century of the death of socialism, but Zyuganov told supporters that the 21st century will see "the triumph of the ideas of the Great October Revolution on a worldwide historical scale."
