YELTSIN SAYS HE AND YAVLINSKY LIKELY TO HOLD SECOND MEETING.

Russian president Boris Yeltsin made a campaign visit to Moscow Oblast May 7. Visiting the small town of Narofominsk, he spoke positively about his May 5 meeting with presidential candidate Grigory Yavlinsky, and said he would probably hold a second meeting with Yavlinsky "to define the conditions of our cooperation more precisely." Yeltsin said he had also invited ophthalmologist Svyatoslav Fedorov to meet "to discuss the possibility of joining forces." Yeltsin said he believed it would be possible "gradually to reach agreement with all the democratic-minded presidential candidates." Communist party leader Gennady Zyuganov yesterday confirmed his readiness to meet with Yeltsin, saying he had heard Yeltsin was also interested in such a meeting but that no date had been set. Meanwhile, ultranationalist candidate Vladimir Zhirinovsky said that, while he was offended that Yeltsin had so far made no move to invite him to a meeting, he was ready to meet the president at any time.
