RUSSIAN CASUALTIES IN BOSNIA.
Publication: Monitor Volume: 2 Issue: 89
NATO’s peace implementation force (IFOR) reported yesterday that one Russian soldier had been shot dead and another was critically wounded in the northeastern sector of Bosnia patrolled by a Russian peacekeeping brigade. The IFOR statement said that there had been "no evidence of hostile fire" in the incident, but did not elaborate. A Russian military source reportedly blamed the casualties on the improper handling of weapons. The incident is under investigation. (UPI & Reuter, May 6)
