The Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of Galina Starovoitova, the only woman aspiring to be registered as a candidate in the Russian presidential election. The court upheld the ruling of the Central Election Commission that a quarter of the signatures submitted in support of her candidacy were forgeries. (Interfax, may 5)
