YELTSIN WELCOMED IN BEIJING.

Russian president Boris Yeltsin received a sumptuous welcome in Beijing yesterday as he kicked off his second visit to China and the third meeting of Chinese and Russian leaders since the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Yeltsin’s first visit came in December 1992. Chinese president Jiang Zemin made his initial official visit to Russia in September 1994. Among those accompanying Yeltsin are defense minister Pavel Grachev, First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Kadannikov, Foreign Trade Minister Oleg Davydov, Atomic Energy Minister Viktor Mikhailov, and a number of Russian business leaders.
