RUSSIAN SOLDIERS ATTACKED IN TAJIKISTAN.

According to initial reports, at least six Russian border guards were killed in Khorog, Badakhshan region, in an attack by Afghanistan-based resistance fighters October 10. (15)

The incursion caps a series of lethal attacks by resistance groups against Russian soldiers both along the border and inside Tajikistan, including in the capital Dushanbe. The attacks are seen at least in part as a response to the Tajik government´s intransigence in the political negotiations with the opposition, most recently blocking the start of the overdue fifth round of negotiations.
