CANADIAN-RUSSIAN AIRLINE DISPUTE RESOLVED.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 4 Issue: 64

Canadian authorities yesterday allowed an airliner owned by Russia’s Aeroflot airline to return to Moscow. The plane had been grounded at Montreal’s Dorval Airport one day earlier by Canadian authorities. That action, which provoked a protest from Russia’s Foreign Ministry, was the result of a ruling by an international arbitration court against Aeroflot in a dispute with the Canadian company IMP. Aeroflot and IMP jointly own the Aerostar hotel in central Moscow. The Canadian authorities, acting on the international court ruling, had seized the Aeroflot airliner — an Airbus A-310 — in an attempt to enforce payment in the IMP dispute.
