In the wake of this week’s deal with Pakistan for delivery of more than 300 Ukrainian modern T-80 UD battle tanks (see Monitor, August 1), First Deputy Minister for the Military Industry Viktor Zabara said today that Ukraine has also agreed to sell a new, 6.5-ton type of military truck to India (following last year’s sale of 300 10-ton trucks to India) and four An-32 military transport planes to Sri-Lanka. Kiev has also signed a contract with Egypt to overhaul 10 of the latter’s Mig-21 fighters. Ukraine is currently seeking to market its T-84 "supertank" produced like the T-80 at Kharkiv’s Malyshev plant. (Reuter, August 2)
