UPDATED BATTLE TANKS DESIGNED IN UKRAINE FOR EXPORT.

Ukraine is about to test in Pakistan the new MTB-2000 tank, whose prototype has been produced under a trilateral Ukraine-China-Pakistan project. The tank is designed to function in hot and dry climate zones. In a parallel development, Ukraine will soon offer to Central and East European countries a new type of tank developed in cooperation with Poland. Updating Soviet models, this tank is said to incorporate a new Ukrainian-made engine and electronic equipment. Ukraine recently achieved a breakthrough as a tank exporter due to the T-80UD, 330 of which were sold to Pakistan. (Eastern Economist Daily (Kyiv), June 22)
