BLEAK WINTER AHEAD.
Publication: North Caucasus Weekly Volume: 1 Issue: 8
The organization Polish Humanitarian Action, which is providing aid to Chechnya, recently reported: “The biggest problem for the almost 80,000 residents of Grozny [Djohar] is the coming winter. The majority of the twenty working hospitals and health points and forty-five schools and daycare centers do not have any heating system. People are still living in ruined houses and basements without heat…. There is no electricity in Grozny…. In the children’s hospital, only children are kept whose life is in danger. The temperature in the rooms reaches only 46-50 degrees Fahrenheit. What is going to happen in the winter?” (Rzeczpospolita, November 30).
