YELTSIN AIDE PLANS SPACE TRIP.

The secretary of the Russian Defense Council, Yury Baturin, is planning a visit to the orbiting Mir space station, Russian space officials announced yesterday. Although Baturin is a lawyer, he also studied aerophysics and space research in the early 1970s. His space training has yet to begin, but the flight to Mir could take place next year. Definitely a hands-on person, Baturin flew one of Russia’s newest jet fighters earlier this year. (AFP, August 25)
