MILITARY REFORM MONITORING AGENCY CREATED.

The press service of Russia’s Defense Ministry announced on September 26 that a coordinating council has been created to monitor information related to Russia’s military reform effort. The council, comprised of representatives of the Defense Ministry and General Staff, is headed by General Staff deputy chief Col. Gen. Valery Manilov and will meet twice a month. (RIA, September 26) It is unclear how the council will interact with the State Military Inspectorate, a body subordinated to the president and recently given responsibility for coordinating the defense reform effort.
