MOSCOW CONFIDENTIAL….

The prosecution of Yuri Skuratov may proceed, the Supreme Court ruled last week. Skuratov, suspended as Russia’s chief prosecutor when his investigations of corruption and money-laundering began to focus on President Yeltsin’s entourage, including his daughter Tatyana Dyachenko and tycoon Boris Berezovsky, is accused of consorting with prostitutes and engaging in other unbecoming conduct. In a plot twist out of “L.A. Confidential,” Skuratov has taken to laying out his case against the Yeltsin crowd in a weekly scandal-sheet called “Top Secret” (Sovershenno Sekretno). Skuratov’s evidence collection may be stymied by the refusal of Swiss authorities, who allegedly can trace the money flows, to deal with him while he is suspended from his office.
