Nizhny Novgorod governor Boris Nemtsov will sue Russian nationalist leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky for his remarks on Russian television June 19, Segodnya said June 21. During a broadcast featuring the two men, Zhirinovsky threw water on Nemtsov and said that the reformist governor presided over a region with the highest venereal disease rate and crime rate in the country. Nizhny Novgorod officials denied both of these claims, and doctors there promised to provide Zhirinovsky with free treatment for VD anytime he wanted. On June 21, Zhirinovsky told the Duma that Nemtsov was part of a Western “fifth column” in Russia and should be forced to leave the country.
