Senior Fellow Willy Lam has been interviewed by Agence France-Presse (AFP) regarding the Communist Party Youth League (CYL) faction, widely regarded as the power base of China’s Premier Li Keqiang, who held high positions in the league during his ascent to power. Dr. Lam notes that China’s President and Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping "is trying to reduce the influence of the Youth League" ahead of next year’s 19th Party Congress.
