Terrorism Monitor Article by Jamestown Fellow Jacob Zenn Quoted by BBC

Jamestown Fellow Jacob Zenn’s recent piece, “A Shia ‘Boko Haram’ Insurgency or Iranian Proxy in Nigeria? Not So Fast,” published in Terrorism Monitor, has been quoted in an article published by the BBC. The widely-read British news organization reported on the decision to label the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), a Shia group sympathetic to Iran, as a terrorist organization. The article quoted from Zenn’s writing that to the contrary, the IMN advocates for an “Islamic evolution,” rather than revolution, in Nigerian politics, and that the group is neither likely to engage in an armed insurgency, nor receive significant support from Iran.
