ALIENS IN ESTONIA REGISTER, CHOOSE RUSSIAN CITIZENSHIP.

264,591 non-citizens have applied for residence permits in Estonia far in advance of the July 12 deadline, Estonian officials told BNS June 22. Tallinn hopes that another 40,000 of the remaining 140,000 aliens will register before that date. But Estonian officials are also concerned about the political impact of the 72,000 people in Estonia who have claimed Russian citizenship. The news service also reported that some 100,000 people have left Estonia during the last five years.
