AMERICAN BUSINESSMAN LEFT RUSSIA "VOLUNTARILY."

An unnamed Russian diplomat yesterday denied reports that the president of the Seattle-based Medical Export, Inc., had been expelled from Russia. The source said that Richard Dann Oppfelt had actually been warned by Russian authorities that his activities in Kamchatka had exceeded the requirements of his business. But no official complaints have been filed with the U.S. embassy or other U.S. diplomatic missions, he said. The Russian Federal Security Service reportedly confirmed Oppfelt’s "voluntary departure" from Russia. (Itar-Tass, May 13)
