In Washington, the U.S.-Ukrainian Foreign Policy Committee held its inaugural session. It is co-chaired by U.S. ambassador-at-large for the newly independent states, James Collins, and Ukrainian deputy foreign minister Anton Butenko. A joint statement described the Committee as a "valuable mechanism for constructing a U.S.-Ukraine strategic partnership based on common values and goals." The committee is one of four under the recently established U.S.-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission. (UNIAN, November 6)
