In a televised interview Tuesday, a smiling, robust-looking President Boris Yeltsin ridiculed Western and Russian press reports of his ill health, and said he remains firmly in control of the country. "I am at the helm of the large ship that is Russia, and I have my finger on its pulse," he said. Yeltsin gave the interview before spending half an hour with Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev, his first meeting with a foreign head of state since he was rushed to the hospital with a heart problem on October 26.
