Alia Nazarbaeva, youngest daughter of Nursultan Nazarbaev, president of Kazakhstan, and Aidar Akaev, eldest son of Askar Akaev, president of Kyrgyzstan, announced their engagement July 15 in the Kazakh city of Almaty. They were married yesterday in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The bride attends George Washington University in the District of Columbia, while the groom roots for the Terrapins at the University of Maryland in College Park.
