Acting Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin has drawn up a list of new cabinet members and sent it to President Yeltsin, Russian media reported yesterday. (Itar-Tass, September 1) The present ministers of defense, interior and foreign affairs are expected to remain in their posts but there is much speculation about other ministerial appointments. According to NTV, a leading post in the new government will go to Yuri Maslyukov, a moderate Communist who was the last head of USSR Gosplan and is now acting minister of industry and trade. Mikhail Zadornov is expected to remain as finance minister and Boris Fedorov–the last hope of the reformist lobby–will keep his post as head of the State Tax Service. (NTV, September 1)
