COMMUNISTS SAID PLANNING MODEST NATIONALIZATION.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 2 Issue: 49

Consultations are going on between Communist party officials and leading bankers who used to be part of the Soviet nomenklatura, according to a Òconfidential sourceÓ in Moscow banking circles, about the possibility of nationalizing a number of smaller commercial banks (those that do not have the status of the government’s authorized agents) and transport enterprises. The plans will be implemented if the Communists win the presidential election but, the source confided, the Communists are not planning large-scale nationalizations in other sectors of the economy.
