DJOHAR HAS NEW MAYOR.

The July 23 issue of Izvestia reported that an ethnic Russian, Oleg Zhidkov (born 1956), has been named the new mayor of Djohar (Grozny). Zhidkov spent twenty-seven years living in Chechnya and is a graduate of the Chechen-Ingush State University (major: physical education). From 1984-1992, he served as a KGB officer in Grozny. From 1992-1995, he worked in the security service of the Ministry of Trade in Moscow, and from 1995 to the present, he has been serving as vice president and head of the department of economic security of the Association of Employees of the Law Enforcement Organs of the Russian Federation, based in the Russian capital.
