In a symbolic gesture of Western support, Russian president Boris Yeltsin has been invited to meet earlier with G-7 leaders at this year’s summit in Lyon than has been the case in previous years. French officials report that Yeltsin will arrive late in the afternoon on June 28, the second day of talks. The summit is likely to fall between the two rounds of Russia’s presidential election.
