Arguing that Russian parliamentary elections will proceed as scheduled, Central Electoral Commission chairman Nikolai Ryabov told Krasnaya zvezda June 3 that the country’s new voting machines would prevent any possible fraud in the counting of votes. He suggested that the only source of fraud would arise if politicians simply paid people to vote in a certain way.
